John H. Mullen
Managing Director
John Mullen has over 30 years of experience in tax practice. He advises high net worth families and closely held businesses. He also heads WTAS’ Cross-border International Group in San Francisco. Before joining WTAS, John was a Tax Partner in an international professional services firm, where he served as Associate Director of the firm’s Center for Family Business and as a member of the Family Wealth Planning Specialty Team.
John is a frequent speaker before tax institutes, estate planning conferences, personal financial planning conferences, and civic and professional groups. He also is a contributing author to two books currently in publication: Income Taxation of Fiduciaries and Beneficiaries and Tax Economics of Charitable Giving. He is also the author of articles on estate and gift tax planning in Estate Planning, The Tax Advisor, the New York University Institute on Federal Taxation and Boardroom Reports.
John has served on several committees of the American Institute of CPAs, including the Estate and Gift Tax Committee, the Personal Financial Planning Executive Committee, and the Personal Financial Planning Practice Subcommittee. John has the specialty designations of Chartered Financial Consultant, earned from the American College, and Personal Financial Specialist, a specialty designation of the American Institute of CPAs.
