Joseph R. Kluemper
Managing Director
Joe Kluemper has over 14 years of experience in income tax and family wealth planning for closely held business owners, senior executives and high net worth families. He assists domestic and international families develop and achieve their multi-generational transfer goals and charitable intentions.
Joe has worked with clients on implementing estate planning strategies using techniques such as sales to grantor trusts, generation-skipping dynasty trusts, closely held family entities, grantor retained annuity trusts, charitable split-interest trusts and private foundations. He also advises wealthy global families on pre-immigration tax planning, outbound expatriation, foreign entities and trusts.
In addition to developing integrated tax planning strategies, Joe has extensive experience in tax compliance including gift and estate tax returns, as well as income tax returns for fiduciaries, individuals and related entities.
Joe has negotiated favorable settlements in many federal and state income, estate and gift tax examinations. He also has helped clients obtain private letter rulings from Internal Revenue Service on matters such as generation-skipping transfer tax issues.
Joe has authored several articles, including Translating Foreign Activities Reporting; Converting to a Roth IRA? Read This First; Navigating the Estate and Gift Tax Maze; Evaluating the Tax Impact of Legal Fees; and New Gifting Opportunities Under the Tax Relief Act of 2010.
Before joining WTAS, Joe worked in the tax practice of an international professional services firm.
