David Blair has over 35 years of experience in advising clients on business and tax matters. He focuses on international and corporate tax planning for closely held businesses and publicly traded companies. His international practice areas include both outbound and inbound international tax structure planning and compliance, global allocation of income and IP migration, use of foreign holding companies, income tax treaty matters, permanent-establishment issues, and foreign tax credit optimization. David also works with foreign individuals and global families who enter or leave the United States tax system, as well as sophisticated global families who have extensive investment/business holdings through foreign non-grantor trusts having U.S. beneficiaries. 

David’s general corporate practice areas include domestic and foreign mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, tax-free reorganizations, spin-offs and split-offs, consolidated income tax returns and financial restructurings. He also has extensive experience with partnerships, limited liability companies and S corporations.

Before joining WTAS, he was a partner in an international professional services firm, serving clients in many industries, including technology, business services, private equity, media and manufacturing, energy and natural resources. His broad range of clients included closely held businesses and corporate startups through large multinationals. David helped clients structure business operations in over 20 foreign jurisdictions, including Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Canada, Mexico and Latin America. He also served as a senior firmwide advisor on international and corporate transactions and operations, assisting other partners worldwide on major client engagements involving complex international and corporate tax matters.

David actively participates in the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, a worldwide professional body of practitioners that advise sophisticated global clients in the international arena.
